Bikes and Wine in Cape Town Bike Tour

Cape Town and South Africa are becoming increasingly popular as a tourist destination with international visitors up 25% in the last year. Here are two ways to enjoy the area and get in a Cape Town bike tour at the same time.

A great way to get an impression of a city is to see it on a guided bike tour, and Bikes ‘n Wine Tours offer a half day Art Bike tour in the city. The 12km ride takes up the morning and takes you to some of the most picturesque parts of Cape Town, featuring some of the well known iconic art, sights, and landmarks as well as some locations that are off the tourist map. The 12km is jam-packed with famous landmarks and statues, as well as the cultural and colourful area of Bo-Kaap which is a historic area which thrived in the 19th Century as an Islamic community after the abolition of slavery and is famous for its colourful houses, steep cobbled streets, and muezzin.

The tours run Monday to Saturday and start at 9:30 am, finishing at 1:30 pm. The tours are weather dependent and need to be pre-booked.

For those who are keen to see more of the area, there is the Early Morning Coastal Road Bike Tour, with distances of either 40 or 80km. You can revel in the beauty of Chapmans Peak Drive and the 12 Apostles stretch, with the sting in the tail being Suikerbossie Hill for those who enjoy a challenging hill climb.

Now, you probably don’t want to go all the way to Cape Town, have these 2 bike rides and come straight home! So it’s probably worth investing in a Cape Town pass.
