Bruno Spengler, known as the Secret Canadian, has signed as Brand Ambassador for R. Raymon, German brand of bikes & e-bikes.
Born in Alsace, Bruno Spengler’s moved the family to Canada when he was just 3, but he often returned to France, where he took up cart racing. Some years later, he moved up to racing touring cars, driving for Mercedes from 2005 to 2011, before switching to BMW Team Schnitzer, winning the 2012 season in the last race.
The newly appointed brand ambassador drove a BMW that became known as the Black Beast. It was appropriate therefore that his new Sevenray 8.0 Carbon bike from R Raymon should also be black, a Black Beast on 2 wheels.
It seems unusual that a bike manufacturer should pick a car driver as their brand ambassador, but their provenance and plans are clearly in the direction of e-bikes and their thinking appears to be that fast drivers and fast cyclists have something in common, the love of speed and the desire to win.
The serial entrepreneur family Puello established their PEXCO GmbH company in July 2017, with the name standing for Puello eMobility Crossover Company. Their aim is to reach market-leading positions in several different sectors within the heading of mobility globally, through technology, design, economics and digitalisation. This has led them to both ebikes and bikes. Under the PEXCO umbrella are the 3 brands of R RAYMON, Husqvarna Bicycles and R2R (for “Ready to Race”).
PEXCO CEO Felix Puello was pleased to be able to sign Bruno Spengler as brand ambassador for the R RAYMON range: “We are pleased to welcome such a renowned and successful racing drive as brand ambassador for R RAYMON. He enjoys tremendous respect in the whole motor racing scene. We are certain that we are going to enjoy a successful working relationship with him.” Herr Puello also indicated that Spengler, who already has experience of Formula E racing, will be testing new R RAYMON bikes with electric motors.
Bruno Spengler sees an advantage in becoming brand ambassador for R RAYMON, saying that an essential part of being a racing driver is maintaining fitness at a high level and he uses cycling as part of his training plan. “I am pleased with my new role as brand ambassador of R RAYMON as well as all the aspects of the future partnership as it will give me an opportunity to contribute to a new and exciting brand from day one.”
