Brooks Swift Saddle Given Taka Hayashi Makeover

Two brands synonymous with quality are celebrating anniversaries: Brooks Saddles reach 150 years and Vans footwear 50. The two companies have cooperated previously and have come together for their second collaboration, on the Brooks Swift Saddle.

To blend their classic design and quality craftsmanship, the two companies have commissioned artwork from designer, painter, and stalwart for native American influence, Taka Hayashi. Hayashi’s imagery and intricate detailing extend from Vault by Vans premium label shoes to a Brooks Swift Saddle and the Brooks Barbican Shoulder Bag.

Taka Hayashi has been a cyclist since he was at high school and remembers his white Peugeot that he got on his 15th birthday. He still tries to get out on his bike a few times a week. He explained that the motif on the saddle is applied with a moulded emboss plate, which is a unique process. For the Vault by Vans sneakers laser etching is used to maintain the detailed design.

“I chose the Brooks Swift Saddle, which is one of my favourite saddles from the Brooks collection as I wanted to incorporate the Swift symbol and incorporate cues from south-western motifs“, said Hayashi.

The collection is available from 3rd December 2016 at select stockists internationally.
