On April 10th the registration fee for La Fausto Coppi Le Alpi del Mare will rise to € 50 from the early bird price of € 45. So get your skates on if you want to join the more than 1000 cyclists who have already registered for the 30th edition of the international granfondo La Fausto Coppi Le Alpi del Mare.
The number of riders is a tribute to the reputation of this event and indicates that the 30th edition will be as popular as ever.
The organizers are working on several fronts simultaneously: on the one hand checking and, wherever necessary, securing the route, and on the other the preparations of the festivities for the 30th anniversary, and finally, the creation of the medal. According to tradition, this will be revealed at the end of the Giro d’Italia in the beginning of June. Like in the past year the jersey, symbol of this hard and spectacular race, will be produced by Santini.
The international GF La Fausto Coppi Le Alpi del Mare is one of the hardest and most fascinating cycling marathons in Europe. Every year more than 3000 cyclists from the five continents meet on Piazza Galimberti in the heart of Cuneo where the race starts and ends. So far cyclists from more than 20 different nations have registered for the event.
You can choose between two different routes: the 111 km long mediofondo (Cuneo, Colle Fauniera – 2484 m, Madonna del Colletto – 1304 m, with a total ascent of +2550 m) and the 177 km long granfondo (Cuneo, Colle di Valmala – 1380 m, La Piatta – 1136 m, Colle Fauniera – 2484 m, Madonna del Colletto – 1304 m, with a total ascent of +4125). A stage during the Giro d’Italia (1999), the Colle Fauniera is the Holy Grail of Italian cyclists and the GPM of this event.
It is still possible to start in the first row by paying a flat fee of 100€ which will go to the project: “Save the mountain roads”. Our mountains are popular not only among cyclists but also among hikers and excursionists: the recovery of some uneven paths of the La Fausto Coppi Le Alpi del Mare benefits all of them.
Recently, the GF has presented the “Trofeo Granfondo delle Alpi” together with the Mercan’Tour Bonette, Mercan’Tour Turini and Risoul Queyras. The new circuit offers the possibility to climb some of the most legendary mountains incycling history: from the Fauniera and Bonette to the Turini and Col de l’Izoard. The registration fee for the circuit is 120€.
